    This is true due to the the fact that in the English system, all you have to do to change from one measurement to the other is just move the decimal place. For example: I have 10 kg of apples and wish to convert it into grams, kilo means 1000 and grams are the base, meaning one, so we will move the decimal place to the right three places (to add the three zeros for 1,000) and the answer will 10,000.
