Explain why a sailing boat will slow down if the wind speed gets less

    When the wind begins to slow, so does the force behind it. A sailboat moves using the force that the wind puts upon the sail. As the wind subsides the sail will not be able to move the weight of the boat as well as it could when the wind was hitting the sail with greater amounts of force.
