The energy of microwaves is less than the energy of ultraviolet light. Which comparison of the energies of electromagnetic waves is correct?

    The answer is (A) Gamma rays have higher energy than microwaves because gamma rays have shorter wavelengths.

    The electromagnetic spectrum is measured using three things: energy, frequency and wavelength. The further right you go on the spectrum, the longer the wavelength, lower frequency and energy you have. The further right, the shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency and energy.

    Gamma rays have the shorter the wavelength and the highest energy/frequency. Microwaves have the second longest wavelength and lowest energy/frequency.

    Just remember that:

    short wavelength = high frequency/energy

    long wavelength = low frequency/energy
