A jar contains 30 mL of glycerin (mass=37.8 g) and 60 mL of corn syrup (mass=82.8 g). Which liquid is on the top layer? Explain your answer.

    Applying the concept of density, the less dense material stays at the top while the more dense material stays below in the glass.

    Density (ρ) = mass / volume

    Density of glycerin = 37.8 / 30*10⁻³ = 1260g/l

    denisty of corn = 82.8 / 60 * 10⁻³ = 1380g/l

    from the above calculation, it shows that maize has the highest density and would stay below glycerin in the jar.
