Which of the following statements of kinetic molecular theory explains the compressibility of gasses as compared to liquids and solids?

Gases are made of molecules which are relatively far apart.

The molecules are in motion at high speeds.

    Option (a) is correct.

Gases are made of molecules which are relatively far apart. So the gas molecules have greater distances between them as compared to the molecules of solids and liquids. When we increase the pressure, these gas molecules come closer and occupy less volume and thus get compressed. Thus the gases are more compressible as compared to the liquids and solids because of the greater distance between their molecules.
