Mary walks a certain distance up a road that climbs a hill. The vertical component of her displacement is 17.63 meters, and the horizontal component of her displacement is 100 meters. What is the road's approximate angle of inclination?

    The tangent of that angle is 17.63/100 = 0.1763.

    My calculator says that the angle with that tangent is 9.9985°.

    10° is awfully close, and it's a much easier answer.

    (It's less than 0.015% wrong.)
