State clearly how the electroscope may be used to test for the kind of a charge on a body.

First, bring the charged object close the the electroscope to induce the same charge on the leaves of the electroscope. Then, rub a rod with a paper towel to induce a positive charge on it and finally bring the charged object close to the electroscope. If the leaves repel, then the charge on the first object was positive and if they come together then the charge was negative.
