As per the theory of atomic structure, the electrons are arranged in specified energy levels in an atom around the nucleus. These electrons can acquire energy and excite to the higher energy levels (provided these electrons are still under the control of nucleus) > But if the energy is sufficient enough (equivalent to ionization energy) this electrons will be taken away from the control of nucleus resulting the phenomenon called ionization.
