A shopping cart accelerates 0.5 m/s2 when a net force of 8 N is applied to it. What is the mass of the shopping cart?

    Use Newton's second law:

    Force = (mass) (acceleration)

    Divide each side

    by (acceleration) : Force / acceleration = mass

    8 N / 0.5 m/s² = mass

    Mass = 16 kg
