Explain why group 1 and 2 from the periodic table form many compounds with group 16 and 17

    Because group 1&2 need to lose electrons because they only have 1 or 2 and group 16 and 17 need to gain electrons because they need a complete set of 8 because they only have 6 or 7, together they make ionic compounds
