Which planet is second only to the moon in brilliance in the night sky?

    That planet is Venus. It is called the Morning or Evening Star. It can either be seen before sunrise and just after sunset. Venus is the second planet from the sun and most similar in size to the Earth. The Earth is however a bit larger than Venus. Planets can be seen from Earth because they reflect the light of the sun. Other visible planets include Mercury, Mars and Jupiter.
