Sexual reproduction produces an offspring with two sets of chromosomes from two different organisms whereas in asexual reproduction, daughter cells inherit identical set of chromosomes from one parent only. Thus, sexual reproduction leads to genetic diversity, such that the resulting daughter cells can have possible gene combinations which are more fit for survival in changing environmental conditions whereas asexual will only produce daughter cells exactly identical to parent cell.
