A ramp is 3.0 meters long and 1.5 meters high. The distant of the effort, therefore, is the length of the ramp and the resistance distance is the height of the ramp. If it takes 60.0 N of force to move a crate that weighs 105 N up the ramp, what is the efficiency of the ramp?

    A site I read says that the answer is 87.5%. If you need the work, the equation is 100% * Work Output/Work Input.

    Work=Force*Distance

    Work Output is what you accomplished

    Work Output = 105 * 1.5, lifting 105 up 1.5 meters

    Work Input is what you did

    Work Input = 60*3.0, exert 60 N of force up a 3 meter ramp

    WO = 157.5

    WI = 180 N

    Efficiency = 100% * 157.5/180

    Efficiency = 87.5%
