    The formula of force is times the mass and acceleration: F = ma.

    Since the acceleration is the velocity over time: a = v/t, the formula becomes

    F = m * (v/t)

    With F = 12 N, m = 3 kg, v = 3.4 m/s and t is unknown,

    t = m * (v/F) = 3 * (3.4/12) = 0.85 seconds
