A spring on the produce scale at the farmers market has a spring constant of 5.2 N/m. A giant bag of apples is hung from the spring and the spring stretches 0.32m. What is the elastic potential energy stored in the spring?

    PE = 0.5*K*X^2

    where:

    PE = potential energy

    K = Spring Constant

    X = extension

    0.5*5.2 * (0.32^2)

    =0.27J
