Why does it take a very long time for most mountains to forms

    Mountains form when tectonic plates collide and keep trying to push into each other. This causes them to push upwards, since there is not much space below. It is slow because it is formed by the plates moving, which is very slow, since an area sometimes the size of a continent has to move.
