Which property describes the amount of energy that flows past a given area per unit of time?

    Irradiance is the measure of Watts/m^2. Since energy is in Joules, and time derivative of this is J/s=Watts. Energy over an area is J/m^2. So time rate of change of energy per unit area is Watts/m^2, or irradiance.
