How does the charge of a particle affect the direction in which the particle is deflected in a magnetic field?

    This is simply because the positively charged particles will go to negative end of magnetic field, and the negatively charged particles will go to positive end of magnetic field, and vice versa.

    This happens due to the fact that the positive end is both repelled by the positive part of the field, at the same time, attracted by the negative end.
