    because during the process of freezing, the molecules of water lose energy which is heat. and therefore, the molecules slowly start to reduce the amount of space they have between themselves and they also reduce the speed they are moving. when the liquid id completely frozen, the molecules are tightly packed and they only vibrate. this makes them look like a cube of marbles.
