Atoms in compounds can be separated by physical means such as the application of a higher temperature pressure or volume. These state functions (does not depend on the path) can alter the geometric appearance of the compound. For example, if the liquid water at room temperature is boiled, you apply a greater amount of heat in the form of higher temperature. As the liquid boils, you observe that there is steam coming out of it. The steam is still water but in the gaseous state. The liquid water molecules that are compact is being separated by the application of heat to change it into gas. The answer is letter A.
