An operating electric circuit consists of a lamp and a length of nichrome wire connected in series to a 12 - volt battery. As the temperature of the nichrome is decreased, what happens to the equivalent resistance of the circuit and the power developed by the lamp?

    The resistance of the wire will decrease as its temperature is decreased due to reduced hindrance in the flow of electrons. This means the current will increase. Electric power:

    P = I²/R

    The power produced will thus increase since the current is increasing and the resistance decreasing.
