Circulating all of the blood in the body through the heart takes about 1 min for a person at rest. (a) How much blood is in the body? Give answer in cubic meter (m3) (b) On average, what mass of blood does the heart pump with each heart beat? Give answer in kilograms (kg).

    1 beat = 67mL = (67/1000) liters = 0.067 liters

    1000L = 1m³, 1L = 10^-3 m³

    0.067 liters = (0.067 * 10^-3) m³

    79 beats = 79 * 0.067 * 10^-3 = 5.293 * 10^-3 m³

    Mass = Density * Volume

    Mass = 1060 kg/m³ * 5.293 * 10^-3 m³ = 5.61058 kg

    Heart pumps 5.61058 kg of blood.
