Static friction - when a force is applied to an object, but it does not cause movement. (pushing a wall)

Fluid friction - this is experienced when an object is moving through a fluid (swimming)

Sliding friction - occurs when surfaces are sliding over each other (sliding a box across a floor)

Rolling friction - occurs when something circular runs over another surface (riding a bike)
