    If the quality of the observations had no effect on the research, then nobody would have to make any observations. They could just sit in the lab, play loud rock music, write down a bunch of numbers, and call them observations. True, there have been scientists who did that. Their research was worthless, and that's why nobody knows or cares about them or their research these days. No, the quality of the observations IS the quality of the research.
