A photon of light has a wavelength of about 600 nm (1nm = 1 x 10-9 m). What is the energy of this photon of light? Show all calculations leading to an answer.

    Wavelength = 600 nm = 600 * 10^ (-9)

    speed of light = c = 3 * 10^8

    planck constant = h = 6.63 * 10^ (-34)

    energy of photon = hc/wavelength

    = 6.63 * 10^ (-34) * 3 * 10^8/600 * 10^ (-9)

    = 1.9 * 10^ (-25) / 6 * 10^ (-7)

    = 0.31 * 10^ (-16)

    = 3.1 * 10^ (-17)
