Cecily agrees readily, due to the fact that she has already been making up her romantic story with Algernon about their courtship and engagement, she also made imaginary letters to herself from Algernon. She told Algernon that she always wanted to marry a man name Ernest because that name inspires confidence. Algernon agrees and decides to be re-christened Ernest.
