What would happen if the Nile ceased to flow or if its water level dropped significantly?

For the people who live off of it and the animals might not have as much water anymore and they, over time, will dry up the river and if the river isn’t deep enough some water animals won’t be able to hunt and/or live there any more if that makes sense
