The transantlantic trade triangle expanded as the colonies in the new world expanded fuelling demand for more slaves and more goods being produced for export into Europe. it is the slaves from africa that added volume to the trade as it is estimated that at its peak there was over 150,000 slaves brought yearly and over 50,000 dying in the deep sea.
