Discuss the backgrounds of the writers of the constitution, and explain why these men tended to be rather mistrustful of the notion of democracy

Having been previously tricked by the promises of a democratic government and republic in the past, the writers of the Constitution were hesitant in the beliefs and issues this would bring forth, despite their avid and colorful backgrounds in understanding political and philosophical thoughts.
