    Bartolomé de Las Casas fought for the rights of the Indians in Mexico and Central America. he argued that inhabitants should be viewed as fellow human beings capable of learning if they are taught properly. He appealed to the humanity of native people. These ideas were against the rulers at the time because he was introducing subjects such as race and culture.
