The Russian revolution of 1917 occurred because of the following reasons:

    1. The desire of the peasants to possess lands of their own.

    2. The desire to gain economic and political control.

Before the revolution of 1917 in Russia, land was a very important commodity and it determines how wealthy a man is. Lands were mostly owned by the government and wealthy land owners, the peasants had no land of their own and the lives of the people are majorly controlled by the government.
