    The phi phenomenon is an apparent movement produced by luminous impulses in classification, while beta movement is an apparent movement produced by luminous still impulses. Wertheimer supposed the apparent motion applied that the phenomenon was not really experienced it was just an illusion, so as an alternative he used phi phenomenon.
