Andre Bickford explored the process of militarization, by which soldiers are made and unmade by the state. Andrew Bickford claims that soldiers have to be "constructed" because according to him no one is born a soldier, and soldiers who are made can be unmade. He also states that the state must construct a powerful ideal of a soldier.
