According to the psychologist, Lawrence Kohlberg's theory of moral development, Lillian is in stage 5 of moral development, known as s ocial contract. Social contract is a post-conventional stage of moral reasoning, which is one one of the highest stages of moral reasoning a person can achieve. This stage is characterized by awareness of society's laws, but also recognition that rules can be flexible when they are ineffective and and do not serve people's best interests.
