Their usual food is insects and other spiders but some of the larger species have been seen to eat other small animals such as millipedes, wood lice (slaters), and even small lizards, frogs, and birds. But one kind of food that spiders normally do not eat is plant material. they usually catch their prey by building webs once they catch their prey in the web they wrap it around in more web and save to eat later on. Spiders build new webs everyday, they never go back to its previous web.

Usually spiders prey on insects and other spiders. Of course it varies, from different species. For example, the Goliath spider eats: frogs, small snakes, beetles, insects, lizards, bats and young rats. Then you have the tarantula spider, which eat: crickets, cicadas, grasshoppers, sow bugs, caterpillars, and beetles. They also don't mind eating rodents, but they aren't preferred, due to the size of the tarantula. There are so many different species of spiders, that eat a variety of things; dead or alive.
