My mom thought it was funny to walk into the house when I got my braces off, to tell everyone that I had a boyfriend and I was embarrassed because I didn’t want anyone else to know unless I told them. Five years ago, I wouldn’t have been embarrassed, I would’ve laughed and owned up to it. Five years in the future, I would be even more embarrassed because if my mom did that to me as an adult, I wouldn’t know what to think and I would most likely walk away from everyone until I felt less embarrassed by what happened.
