According to Edith Hamilton, mythology is an explanation of nature. With the changes and development of narratives and tales of different people through time, she came up to differentiate the primitive myth and the classical myth.

The primitive mythology gives out ugliness and terror. The tale and myth of the primitive people are about their fear to their gods and explanations to unknown. On the other hand, classical mythology is more civilized. It is a combination of Greek and Roman narratives, where they made their gods in human form, and there's the concept of religion.
