    Based on Thoreau's book entitled Walden, truth is important to him when he said "Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth." In Walden, he also said simplicity is important in the quote, "Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say ... " He viewed life without capitalism as important in the essay "Life Without Principle", stating 'In my opinion, the sun was made to light worthier toil than this.'
