Deeper absorption of other cultures is a result of the direct cultural contact.

Directly participating in another culture, such as during their rituals, can give the people a much better understanding of another culture. For example, if you have Russian friends and their family is celebrating Orthodox Easter and you are invited, you will have a but better impression of the Russian Culture than if you study it formally.
