    They understand that the opportunity cost of attending college is very high.

    If the athlete choose to attend college, he will lose around 4 years worth of intensive training in professional teams.

    This will widen the gap of skill that exist between him and the athlete that choose to dedicate himself to the sport by skipping formal education.
