    The first society of Mesoamerica, which founded traditions followed by all later societies, was the Olmec society.

    If you look at today's world map, the Olmec society would be situated somewhere in Veracruz and Tabasco in South America. They thrived during 1500 BCE, up until 400 BCE when other tribes/nations conquered them.
