Doing this would be considered as a massive gesture which conveys a society that could tolerate different religions

2. Mainly because the golden rule of Christian religion, treat other people like you want to be treated.

Many christians would definitely want the freedom to exercise their beliefs. Because of this, it is only fair if Christian followers also allow followers of differing religion the freedom to exercise their belief.
