    This has 3 components which are behavioral component, cognitive component, and affective component.

    cognitive component - a disagreement between the parties that illustrates the differences between the interests and objectives of the conflicting parties.

    affective component - relates to the negative emotional states of the conflicting parties.

    Knowing this information, it CAN be because a relationship is in trouble, but not always, cognitive and behavioral can happen when a relationship is not in trouble, you can have disagreements, that is just life.
