    Nurture is more important to the development of personality and self. Sociologists recognize aptitude as a natural influence on ability but the environment ultimately controls the use of that aptitude. Studies of social isolation have shown the importance of environment on the development of a person. Feral studies such as Genie and the Harlow deprivation study are the most cited for the human need of social contact.
