American courts are usually either federal or what other kind of courts

    The answer is states court

    States court only had the jurisdiction to take care the cases with state-magnitude level and usually being done by using states legislation as a basis.

    Federal court on the other hand take care cases with nation-wide magnitude which decision will overate the decision made by the state court.
