What is significant about these presumed gender differences in mating preferences?

    Confusion and anxiety is a reasonable answer. Traditionally, genes decide gender, our conscious mind does not. Conflicting information has a tendency to create cognitive dissonance which, more often than not, will be a source of sorrow. Delusions have ended too many lives already.
