In 1963, Milgram conducted a research study at Yale University to test the obedience levels of individuals when commanded to harm a person through electric shocks. The ethical issues of Milgram's study included:

    1. Emotional or mental harm to participants - participants who were commanded to administer electric shocks to the stooge displayed signs of distress such as trembling, stuttering, sweating and requesting to stop the study.

    2. No right to withdraw - Despite experiencing distress, Milgram did not provide participants with clear rights to withdraw from the study.
