Things fall apart how did ear respond when mosquito asked if she would marry him

According to the okonkwo stories, ear fell on the floor in uncontrollable laughter after the mosquito asked if she would marry him. Ear then tell the mosquito that he already as thin as skeleton and wouldn't have much time to live.
