    The answer is (A) because King John II preferred Dias’ eastern route around Africa.

    Christopher Columbus was one of the few voices who suggested in sailing west to reach the Chinese and Japanese market. Though it was considered by the King, but later on was rejected since the royal support prefers to give the funds to those who were seeking to sail eastward, but with same purpose.
