Colleges use sat scores in the admissions process because they believe these scores provide some insight into how a high school student will perform at the college level.

    The SAT provides colleges a with a standardized test score which is one way to gain insight into how high school students may perform in college. The open questions remains what does their data show about their own preferred selection process and how do they provide equity for applicants who may not grant insight into their performance ability for college through a standardized test.
